So it’s been a while since our last post, a lot is happening at Library Group HQ that you’ll know about as soon as we can say but in the meantime we wanted to do a quick post about our latest release [LGR004]/
Purring released their debut Self Titled Demonstration Extended Player in December of 2018 while on tour with Holy Forrest in Adelaide. A collection of six songs that have been floating around computer hard drives and tape machines for the last few years now, growing and growing with each overdub added and mix down completed.
Blending shoegaze walls of sound, dream pop harmonies/melodies, and lush ambient textures, the ep details the story of two lovers gliding together deep within a hazey reverie, transferring spiritual energy, their universal connexion beyond words, and ultimately finding each other
Limited to an edition of 22, each tape is completely unique, with repurposed cassettes [found in a box on the nature strip near my local shops] hand dubbed and numbered. Cases were found in Charity stores around Sydney, taken home, and cleaned.
Each cover is an original photographic print, taken and developed by hand in 2005.
Each insert created with the help of Nancy Phung on a kitchen table in Adelaide.
We’re super happy with the way these tapes turned out, and feel they perfectly embody the feeling of the record.
Launching the record at Brick City Bar in Adelaide with brethren DRAINING was an unforgettable experience. The lineup featured PURRING mastermind Joshua McBeath on Guitar, Nancy Phung and Jesse Cloutt of HOLY FORREST (drums and bass respectively) as well as a guest appearance from Alister Douglas (Blush Response) on guitar for the song ’Sucker’.

Hello there, today is a very special day for Library Group Records. After months refining art work, listening and re-listening to test pressing to make sure everything is just right, sending emails back and forth to the pressing plant, and then waiting for the delivery truck to arrive, it’s finally here. We’re proud to present to you Holy Forrest’s ’Whirl/Cumulo’ 7”.
Perfectly mirroring the ethereal walls of sound hidden within the grooves, the beautiful blue vinyl and it’s housing is even more amazing than we ever expected. When we pulled the first record from it’s sleeve, expecting to see one pale shade of translucent blue, we found the translucent blue was mottled with dark blue splatters and yellow flecks echoing the tonal shifts and blurred melodies of the record.
Within the sleeve you’ll also find a double sided lyric insert (gorgeously illustrated by Holy Forrest’s very own front woman Nancy Phung), a couple of stickers, and a badge that you can pin to your favourite shirt, bag, hat, jacket, or shoe if you so wish - it’d be fitting really.

Thank you so much for your love and support, we’re honoured to be able to share our creation with you and hope you find within the sleeve, inspiration, happiness, or something deeper, cloaked by the daily workings of the world.. and if you find nothing more than the sonic textures of a band growing into their own, stick those stickers on your laptop, and rock that badge watching your favourite local band next Friday night, we couldn’t be happier.

Today marks a very special day… and that is the first vinyl release for our wonderful friends Holy Forrest, and for us here at LGRHQ too!
Holy Forrest have come up quickly in Sydney’s indie rock scene, with their flawless live performances garnering much praise from their contemporaries throwing around terms like ‘High Energy’, ‘Wall of Sound’, ‘The best live band around’.
Recorded and mixed by the band, and mastered with the help of some computer-y guy at ARIA, their new double A-side 7” stays true to the bands current trajectory blending beautifully crafted pop songs with the dreamy, distorted sonic layering of guitars the band’s become synonymous with. Limited to 150 copies pressed right here in Australia by Zenith Records, the ‘Whirl / Cumulo’ 7” looks as beautiful as it sounds - pressed to blue vinyl and including a few inserts by the Holy Forrest & LGR a like.
